I can’t believe it is already June 5th! It seems like a week of nice weather and time starts to fly. Zack and Sarah’s wedding is less than 2 weeks away. Johnny’s birthday is coming up on the 19th. The boys will be out of school next Thursday, June 14th and summer will officially begin.

Last weekend we had a great time at Whidbey Island. The weather was clear, in the high 70’s and low 80’s. Art, Janet and Eric Kopicky joined us as did Kirsten and Sam Thompson. Bo and his friend cleaned the boat and we launched about 6PM. It was so much fun to feel the wind in my dreadlocks- well the hair photo-50.jpg is a stretch but the wind and the sun were just magnificent. Sam made delicious burgers while we were out boating. We dropped the boys off at the sand dunes to do their best to cause landslides while Art and I cruised Useless Bay. It was unfortunate that salmon season does not open until mid July and crab season even later. I can hardly wait to get those downriggers in the water and bring in some nice salmon this year.

Sunday there was lots of kayaking and book reading- two opposite but important sports. Art and I managed to do a little yard work and everyone seemed to have an awesome time taking in all the sun. Joanne and Wendell, my adopted parents, came by for a little bit to say Hi and they were a great encouragement.

Monday Dan Jessup and his dad Don arrived in Seattle to spend the night and head out on the wonderful fishing trip at Sunds Lodge that I had to cancel on. I picked them up at the airport mid-afternoon. We ended out going to dinner with Skip Li which made the foursome of the planned fishing team, until I had to pull out on doctors orders. We had a great time sharing a little of our life stories and laughing together. This morning I took them off to Kenmore Air, bright and early, for their float plane trip to the Canadian Inland Passage. Since they are both pilots, they had a great time checking out all the planes at the Kenmore terminal. They arrive back in Seattle on Friday- I hope with a bountiful harvest of salmon and halibut.

Not much to report on the medical front. I have been continuing to feel well which makes it extra hard to miss the fishing trip. The surgery has been moved from the 12th to the 13th of June because I need to be operated on in the main operating theater- not sure why but it’s not something you negotiate. Unfortunately that almost insures I will not be able to make Zack and Sarah’s wedding since I will be released from the hospital on Friday night or Saturday morning (their wedding day in Eastern Washington), assuming all goes as planned (not a small assumption).

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I ask for prayers regarding surgery focused on June 13th between 9AM and 1PM. Thank you and blessings to all of you that take the time to read the Blog and pray for our family.
