Please pray like you haven’t prayed before for Don.

I’m writing this at 7:50am Monday Nov 12. Don just called from the hospital. Doug Lee, his oncologist, talked to him this morning — a very hard talk. All the specialists agree Don’s current problems — high fever, bilirubin count, serious pains — come from the tumor. Doug feels they have to fight back against the cancer. So today they will start Don on yet another chemo. That is a somewhat risky move, in light of his recurring fever and pain, but they feel it is a must under the circumstances. Doug wants Don & Heather to talk about the life support issues: how far do D & H want the medical team to go to keep Don alive when those decisions are eventually faced. He has seen families torn apart without some understanding as to the measures to go to to maintain life. D&H will do everything within reason in the short term.

Don asked me to put something on the blog right away. I asked him how much detail to write. His answer: “We’ve been transparent all this time; there’s no reason to be any different now.”

We prayed on the phone together after the conversation. Last night when I visited Don about 9:30pm he told me he has distinctly felt the presence of Jesus with him in the hospital room. When he is in pain, he feels Jesus helping him breathe. That is a great comfort.

Please pray like you haven’t prayed before for Don.

Skip, for Don & Heather

Dear Don – As ever you are in my prayers many times, day and night. I especially pray for a lessening of the pain in your body, and for peace in your soul. I know you already have the second one. It’s important to remember, you are an inspiration to the world. And we love you.

” ‘This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Love the comments before mine and agree with their requests and have been asking the same thing. I’m so grateful for your sense of His Presence. I’m with Harvy…I’m knocking and asking and believing that the Creator of the Universe will speak death to those cells. He is all wisdom and I trust Him along with you. I hope you can sense you are floating on the cloud of prayers that are going up for you and your family. How can I love 2 people so much that I have never met? I’m surs part of it is that you loved my son so well. The Body of Christ is an amazing thing and I feel connected to you. Your journey has been an amazing, inspiring, and God honoring one. My friend, with whom I have shared your blog, said today that over the year your testimony has called her to hang on to God in the times and I agreed that it has done the same for me. Thank you for including all of us and for your transparency. God is good and we can trust Him…all the time.

    With love,

Lord Jesus, please comfort Don and Heather right now, and give them peace. You fully understand their pain because you went through it, and you hurt when they hurt. Let them overflow with your presence and your joy in this time when you are so near to them.

I was reading this in Philippians today and thought of you, Don.

    Philippians 1:19-24
“Yes, and I will rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance, as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that will full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.”

    Praying for you.

    Dear Don:

Last week the Lord showed us three different ways He made His miracles: He made His miracles IN US, as when Jesus healed the blind man, He made His miracles WITH US, as many miracles made by His disciples and followers and finally He made His miracles INSTEAD OF US, as when Mosses did not want to go to see the Pharaon.

I felt God has been moving in your life all the time and we will continue praying for His presence in your life.

Through this blog God has been doing countless miracles In you, And with you blessing all of us who have had the privilege to read it.

!Be strong my friend God is with you always!,

    With love in Christ,

    Jose Angel & family

This is my first post to the blog, but definitely not my first visit. I feel like I have come to know Don and his family. For someone I’ve only met a few times, he’s had quite an impact. His honesty and faithfulness have made me evaluate my life. May Don and his family know there are many of us out there who they might not recognize by our faces, but who are loving and praying for them now.
